THE TASK

I was tasked with developing a UX concept and designing user journeys for a responsive Lego gaming platform targeted at children aged 10 and above. This included creating mobile game concepts and storyboards to ensure an engaging and cohesive device experience.

THE challenge

The UX challenge centred on crafting an engaging and intuitive experience tailored for children from 6-12 years, known for their short attention spans. Our goal was to captivate and thrill users throughout their journey, offering clear guidance and answers from start to finish.

I got the brief to design a UX concept and user journeys for a responsive Lego gaming platform (for children +10), including mobile game concepts and storyboards.

The project goal was to develop a comprehensive, reusable solution catering LION’s brand ecosystem that can be rebranded and used for similar campaigns. A critical aspect of this solution was real-time functionality for the redemption process, which needed to accommodate two distinct user scenarios: 'On Prem' and 'Off Prem'. This dual scenario approach required offering users various methods of creating and submitting user-generated content within the web-app.
Comprehension
From a technical standpoint, the application needed to integrate seamlessly with LION’s pre-existing infrastructure platform Savanna which handles registration, redemption and SAP integrations, ensuring fluid functionality and user-friendly interactions.
ENgagement
The project allowed 8 weeks for research, design and testing before being handed over to the development.

THE challenge

The attention span of 6-12-year-old children lies between 12-30min. The gamification and platform experience should be designed not to exceed the attention span.  
Comprehension
Seeking an effective method to clearly explain the game and its rules to young players in an engaging way.

The game needs to work on mobile and desktop, games need to cater for both scenarios without
